Complacency: the American Way                                   by Aaron D. Hancock

I can’t for the life of me understand something.  Not even as hard as I try.  Complacency is the concept I just can’t get my mind around.  Doesn’t anyone care that Halliburton and Dynacorp have lobbyists for maintaining their slave trade operations?  Doesn’t anyone care that 3,000 plus children are missing from Florida’s Child Protective Services?  No I didn’t get that wrong, three thousand kids.  Does anyone care that they’re selling kidnapped children in barns in Nebraska, and in warehouses in Michigan?  I’m tired of this shit.  I’m absolutely, positively sick and tired of stuff like this and we all should be.  What does someone have to do to get a little justice around here?  Is this our reality?  Have we degraded to the level of the ancient pagans and dumb beasts?  Sanity and rational concern for fellow humans really are at a premium these days where we see both so rarely around us.

The dollar has been devalued and our economy is on the verge of a major collapse… which will no doubt have global ramifications.  Plenty of people are talking about this, but mainstream media isn’t covering it because they are owned by the banks and the banks want to suck you dry right until the very end.  I think my generation has a really hard time connecting with reality because the previous generation thought it was brilliant to fill our heads with some abstract nonsense about “truth, justice, and the American way.”  Only we’re learning the American way is to defraud your neighbor while sleeping with his wife… and that doesn’t sound like what we were spoon fed all these years, or what we want.  Look, if that was the last generation’s compromised sense of right and wrong then fine, I for one hope it dies with them, because it sure is some seriously twisted rat race mentality bullshit that I want no part of!  We’ve also figured out that justice is a laughable concept in reality and “justice” is only enacted for those with means to achieve it (those with power or in power).  We’ve also figured out that truth may be the next scarcest virtue on the planet next to justice.  The media skews everything so terribly… the government and the corporations embed images, themes and inclinations into nearly every second of television programming… yes note that word PROGRAMMING, because that’s what your TV is doing to you every afternoon or evening damn it!  WAKE UP AMERICA.

Some people may think I’m hard on the last generation or two, well you better believe I am… especially this last one.  Alright, I’ve got a bit of a rant here, but I’m going to let loose because it is the truth.  This generation before mine has raped and pillaged the lifeblood out of this country and sold the future of it down the river all to make a few extra dollars so they could buy Corvettes and RV’s and refrigerators with flat panel LCD HDTV’s when they retired… or maybe they went into debt for them so they could have them NOW instead of using another rare virtue called patience… or another called self-control.  Instead we’re now stuck with bills we can’t ever repay as a nation, debt up to our eyeballs, worthless 401K’s that people sold their souls for in their heyday of stock investing… it really is sickening.  What’s worse is most everyone that bought into this stuff taught their kids that what they were doing was Right!

And to top it all off, these people are now afraid!  They’re terrified of losing what they raped and pillaged from others… the poor and the slave labor that made all the neat shiny shit they worship.  They’re terrified someone else might get it or that they might lose it!  So they pay for security and they’re afraid of words like “terrorist” or of dark skinned foreigners with funny accents now… these people have given our generation fear and loathing for a future and we will not accept that!  No one is going to ride in on a white horse to save us from the robbers this time, this isn’t Hollywood, and there is no John Wayne.  Instead we will do what we need to do… what we must do… and we will set things straight so that there will be a future worth looking forward to for future generations, even if most of our generation doesn’t get to see it.

I’m not saying there aren’t exceptions from each generation… quite the contrary.  Some from the last two generations who had this system grow up around them… rather than being born into it as our generation was, can see things clearly.  They watched the system… this leviathan of bureaucracy sprout up and grow around them, and so some who saw this creature growing took note of this significant but slow creeping change that swept our country.  Make no mistake, they used some very catchy gadgets to steal your attention away from reality.  This was a sophisticated assault on an entire generation’s better reasoning.  A war for the minds of a whole generation of consumers… ready to spend at a commercial’s notice!  We (the human beings that is) lost.  Plain and simple, but thanks to those who saw what was going on from the generation before… and thanks to those of this generation who are standing up against tyranny and oppression we will be victorious in the fight!

My generation didn’t see the advent of television or the peak of radio.  We came along after these methods of control and persuasion were already perfected to extremes Hitler and Goebbels could only wildly dream of.  My generation took to these methods of control… especially to the new military training inspired video game systems amazingly well.  We ate them up and asked for newer and faster gadgets with better graphics so that we could waste our real lives in simulated worlds that mean nothing.  We demanded that they be in color and that we have mp3’s with video in tiny credit card sized packages so that we could lose or break them easily.  Cell phones and shiny new cars with tracking devices built right in and Tivo systems that log our TV watching habits into a database for the corporations to exploit with targeted advertising or who knows what government spying programs.  We begged for our enslavement and… with a little help from China and other third world slums and don’t forget Wal-Mart, we got what we wanted.  A worthless dollar.  An economy in shambles.  A Constitution in tatters.  A republic gasping out one final death rattle.  Congratulations, you’ve won today’s big prize… a nation in shambles… good luck!  I’ve got a little news flash for everyone, all of these neat shiny new innovations weren’t for our safety or security, they were intended for control… to control you and me.

I don’t want to send you away on a sour note with all this though, because we have an unbelievable opportunity here to get things right for once.  A chance to start fresh and to put America back on track with the Founder’s vision for this great land.  We still have that great destiny that so many saw back then; we must but step forward and take hold.  We must stand up and demand that which every man is entitled, our freedom!  We can once again breathe life into this dream of free humanity if we but stand and face those who would make us their slaves and servants.
